Enable Chat in the agent’s channel controls to let it hold conversations by text. Your voice agent remains available when Chat is off.

Set up texting

  1. Enable Chat.
  2. Open Inbound → SMS to review the sending number and any setup message.
  3. Resolve missing-number or approval issues in your connected CRM.
  4. Select Recheck, then try a message in the test panel.
The number is shown directly in the SMS section. If approval needs verification, check that sending number in GoHighLevel. Detecting a number is not confirmation of A2P approval; GoHighLevel does not expose that approval through its number API. The status can also show the latest known send failure. With native CRM, live texting needs a supported approved sending number. Chat tests remain available even when live SMS setup is incomplete. Voice can still go live if its own setup is ready.

Calls and texts work together

A text received during a call belongs to that same conversation. The agent can use it while speaking and, when Chat is enabled, send a supporting text. Continuing by text does not mean starting the introduction again. Turning Chat off removes conversational replies by text. It does not remove fixed Send SMS steps from your workflows.

Adjust the writing

Open Conversation Style → Chat style for message length, tone and punctuation. Change services, offers or answers in Instructions. Test both channels, including a message sent during a call.
